Kenya Sevens collected 10 points from the Singapore Sevens after finishing their campaign with a 17-7 loss to New Zealand in the fifth place semi-final at the National Stadium on Sunday.

Kurt Baker scored his 101 series try to get the All Blacks going with Willy Ambaka unable to get the tap-tackle and he dully converted for a 7-0 lead.

However, Shujaa hit back immediately as Dan Sikuta showed real determination to race clear and Eden Agero converted to even the scores.

Shujaa went to sleep and Dylan Collier was on the receiving end to add another try for New Zealand before Trael Joass punished more slack defending from Shujaa to put the result beyond doubt.

Next on the series for Kenya Sevens is London and Paris 7s in May, before they head to USA for the World Cup in July.

Innocent Simiyu's charges are on 93 points and are on course to surpass the 100 point mark.

Earlier, the Kenyans lost 24-12 to South Africa in the Main Cup quarters.

Siviwe Soyizwapi was the chief destroyer for South Africa. He scored a hat-trick of tries before Heino Bezuidenhout added his name to the score sheet.

South Africa’s disciplined and watertight defence made it hard for Kenya to stage any comeback. South Africa led 17-0 at half time against Shujaa who looked clueless on the pitch.

Talisman Collins Injera did his best with a brace of tries in the second half but the damage had already been done.
