The Luo Council of Elders has asked NASA leader Raila Odinga not to retreat in his bid to take oath of office as the people's president. Led by Chairman Willis Otondi, the elders warned the government against interfering with plans to swear in the opposition leader insisting that Raila was the people’s choice. The elders who were flanked by Coast NASA coordinator Leah Aketch also demanded that the people’s parliament be made part of the governance system. The elders were speaking this afternoon at Ofafa Memorial hall in Kisumu where they condemned a splinter group led by Nyandiko Ongadi, accusing it of betraying members of the community by working with President Uhuru Kenyatta. Just recently Nyandiko had appealed to the luo community to recognize President Kenyatta as the validly elected president in order to benefit from government appointments.
