Zuma agrees to step down as South Africa' president
ANC's national executive committee, has come to an agreement that President Jacob Zuma will step down as South africa's President.
The NEC meeting is termed as one of most serious bids yet to unseat a leader damaged by corruption allegations. Zuma was replaced as leader of the ruling African National Congress (ANC) by Deputy President Cyril Ramaphosa in December and no longer holds a top position in the party. South Africa’s rand steadied against the dollar early last week and Zuma's exit is expected to strenghten it even the more.. Zuma has been in power since 2009 and his tenure as president was to end mid 2019.
