It took the National Lands commission one year to submit to the auditor general relevant documents to support payments of more than two billion shillings in land compensations. The commission was at pains to explain to the Public Accounts Committee why it took so long to give out the required documents, yet they are vital records that needed to have been prepared before the commission paid out the compensation. In its defense, the commission said it had the information, but had just not presented it. It was not clear on why it took one year.
