Kenya lost close to sh1tn between 2008 & 2011 to extreme weather
Kenya's economy lost close to one trillion Shillings in a span of four years owing to the vagaries of weather that led to extensive damage of crops and livelihoods in various parts of the country. The huge amount incurred in losses has compelled the Government to step up measures to ensure that the damage caused by such weather extremes is mitigated. This is one of the topics that was tackled by the National Treasury's Cabinet Secretary, Henry Rotich, at the annual conference of the Kenya Institute for Public Policy Research and Analysis, KIPPRA.
