Cactus, the second biggest elephant killer in the north after poaching
For pastoral communities living in the northern Kenya rangelands, the long dry seasons mark the start of their equally long battle with climate change. It’s a battle for survival. But as if that's not enough, they have to battle another problem that thrives during the drought. An invasive killer weed that has destroyed the environment, brought diseases on their livestock, impoverished the economy of the pastoral communities, and is the second biggest threat to the elephants there.
