Mean Machine defend their Embu Sevens title after beating Quins 12-5
Mean Machine are the winners of the third edition of the Embu 7s courtesy of a 12-5 win over Kenya Harlequins in the final played at the Embu Stadium in Embu County. Forward Edward Shitanda scored the only try for Quins with Isaac Waweru and Victor Shaviya scoring Machine's tries. Vandals, who are Quins' second team, beat Strathmore Leos 15-12 in the 3/4th place playoff as Catholic Monks won the Plate. Blak Blad took home the Challenge Trophy and Kiambu RFC won the Shield. The Kenya Cup, Championship and nationwide sides used the Embu 7s to prepare for the upcoming national sevens circuit that will kick off on July 21st with Nakuru's Prinsloo 7s. The win means Mean Machine are two-time winners of Embu 7s after scooping the inaugural edition held in 2014.
