Court prevents labour CS from convening an NSSF board meeting
The Judiciary has weighed in on the National Social Security Fund's board wars and stopped Ukur Yattani, the Labour Cabinet Secretary from convening a board meeting for the fund. The CS is accused of failing to gazette and appoint Damaris Wanjiru Muhika, a nominee of the Central Organization of Trade Unions to the NSSF Board of Trustees. COTU, through its boss Francis Atwoli is accusing the CS of frustrating their nominee even as the board considers various issues such as financial reports, approval of projects, advertising, conducting interviews and appointing general managers for various departments. The Court has certified the matter as urgent and instructed the trade unions to file the case by Monday and serve the relevant authorities.
