DPP orders probe into insurer of bus that killed 58 in Kericho
The director of public prosecutions, Noordin Haji, has ordered a probe of the company that insured the bus, which killed 58 people, in Fort Tenan, in Kericho county, last month. The DPP says the investigation will establish whether the responsible company insured the bus, despite the obvious defaults that the vehicle had. Haji says they will also help to establish whether the company that fabricated the bus, did so as per the specifications given. The order by the DPP follows the arrest and subsequent prosecution of the owner of the bus, Benard Isindu Shiti Abayi, who has been charged with the offense of operating a bus, without the required licenses.
