Demolitions in Kisii resumes with destruction of eucalyptus trees, buildings on riparian land
The third phase of demolitions in Kisii has resumed, with more focus on destruction of eucalyptus trees planted on river banks besides bringing down of buildings on riparian land.
The demolition exercise will take three days. On Wednesday, about 10 permanent structures were brought down. More will be demolished on Thursday and Friday.
Members of a multi-agency task force mandated with the exercise in a media briefing on Thursday said though residents are pleading for mercy, the greater good of public interest must be safeguarded.
