MP Shollei warns of outlawed herbicides and pesticides banned in the US yet in the market
Uasin Gishu county MP Glady's Boss Sholei has raised concern over the use of harmful chemicals, some of which have been banned in developed countries, posing serious health risks.
Ms Sholei observed that some of the herbicides and pesticides have been outlawed in the European Union and the United States yet there are in the market exposing Kenyans to health risks.
“The recent complete case in the US is the roundup, a common weed killer here in Kenya. We still use them and in some cases under a different name in our shelves yet it is no longer legal in the country of origin since it has been found to be directly related to causing cancer… these new regulations will ensure food safety,” said lawmaker.
