Meet Njagi a doctor treating women with reversible fertility problems for free
In a society that frowns upon women who are unable to give birth, a doctor in Nyeri has been treating women with reversible fertility problems for free.
For the last one and a half year, Dr Joseph Njagi has given hope to women in at least seven counties who have faced stigma in their families and communities for failure to bear children in the rural areas.
The 36-year-old gynaecologist and obstetrician surgeon has founded a programme dubbed Laparoscopy Mashinani which entail pitching a tent in the rural areas and rallying up residents to turn up for treatment.
“Women are suffering and there is a need but it is not available to the people in the counties because it is expensive for a majority of the women to afford. I am offering a solution in my small way,” he said.
